Yala Giving Back - to Children in Jamaica!

Yala® loves giving back, locally and abroad. This Saturday, June 25th, Great Shape!, a non-profit organization, is hosting a 'Jamacian Yard Party' fundraiser in our hometown Ashland, OR. Great Shape! facilitates a humanitarian dental project (1,000 Smiles), a literacy empowerment program (SuperKids), and an eye-care vision project (iCare) in Jamaica.

This local fundraiser, organized by Chairman of the Board, Kate Wasserman, has become the single largest event/fundraiser for Great Shape! Last year the event raised $20,000, 98% of which went directly to project funding.

When asked how she became interested in Great Shape!, Wasserman explained, "I was first introduced to the organization by the founder about 6 years ago while in college in LA. She started the company after Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. I was already inspired by the country's music and people, I love Reggae. So I got involved; first, just as a volunteer, then helped with different fundraisers and then became a project leader."
