This local fundraiser, organized by Chairman of the Board, Kate Wasserman, has become the single largest event/fundraiser for Great Shape! Last year the event raised $20,000, 98% of which went directly to project funding.
When asked how she became interested in Great Shape!, Wasserman explained, "I was first introduced to the organization by the founder about 6 years ago while in college in LA. She started the company after Hurricane Gilbert in 1988. I was already inspired by the country's music and people, I love Reggae. So I got involved; first, just as a volunteer, then helped with different fundraisers and then became a project leader."
Start giving back by attending their fundraiser in Ashland, OR hosted by the Ashland Armory on Saturday, June 25th from 5:30 to 10:00pm. A $50 ticket will get you a delicious dinner, generously donated by Anna I. Designs and Summit Beverages, and an opportunity to bid in the silent auction on a Yala® Silk Fleece Throw or Yala® Silk Habotai Pillowcases and much, much more!
Yala would like to extend our gratitude to all of the amazing reviews we have received from a wonderful variety of bloggers! We were so happy to hear how much you love our products! It gives us inspiration to continue doing our best to bring you beautiful, timeless pieces : )
“The Greta Maxi Dress was not my first choice and I was hesitant in agreeing to review it because I do not like V-neck dresses but my fears were for naught. This dress fits just perfectly- it clings softly to my body with no gaping like so many similar cut dresses. Again the color is striking and this dress is the most comfortable dress I have ever owned. It is perfect to take on vacation, it practically folds up into nothing and is very light.”
“I was stunned when I first felt the fabric of Yala’s Bradshaw Dress. It is sooo soft! I kept thinking, My! this is soft! How’s that for your perfect spring dress? You’ll want to wear a camisole with it, and perhaps leggings if you’re so inclined, but it’s a cute short dress for spring.”
“I got the opportunity to review [Yala's] Kai Boatneck top – a classic silhouette with 3/4 length sleeves and bias trim. I wish there were a way to convey touch through the computer, because to say this fabric is soft is an understatement. I can only imagine how great this would be to sleep in. It’s a thin fabric which seems like it will be especially nice once the summer heat hits, but it would also layer really well with other pieces.”
This silk scarf is super soft, light, airy and comfortable. I love the color. I got the Jade, which is a green color, and the color is on a gradient, so some places are more saturated than others. The length of the scarf is perfect, and this may sound cheesy, but I like clothes that make me smile. So, here’s something that hasn’t happened yet on Lucy Likes It, I don’t have any CONS!
Yala's Tessa Tunic is the perfect summer dress for every occasion! We were so inspired by the versatile stripes we decided to shoot them on our talented Yala employees. Explore the options this simple tunic has to offer when we dress it up from casual wear to beach fair to an evening on the town...
Fyberworks is filled with rich textures, vibrant colors and imaginative styles that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This popular women’s boutique located in southeast Portland has been a retailer of Yala® products since January 2007. Cindy Zielinski is a clothing designer and the owner of Fyberworks Boutique.
Cindy finds the balance between comfort and style with her favorite Yala product, the basic Cami Top.
"My favorite piece is the basic cami," she says. "It's perfect for the Northwest as a thin layer that keeps me warm and cool at the same time. I own four and could easily add to that number and not feel that I had too many. It is one of the easiest pieces to sell!"
At Fyberworks, the goal is to offer a fresh view of the world through the lines of clothing and the many artists/designers represented in her shop's assemblage of clothing and accessories. Her own line is perfect for travel and has a unique twist: embossed images add a subtle interest to the fabrics.
As a long time retailer of Yala, she has come to know what her customers love. “My other best seller is the bamboo legging. They are the perfect layer for under skirts or a thin layer under pants. Great for travel when you're not sure what weather conditions you will be experiencing. Most of my customers find them irresistible!”
The weather is warming and we're clearing our closets! The museum was recently nominated for the Distinguished Service Award presented by the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators for "individual or organizations outside the field of education that make significant contributions to the education of young people in Oregon."While we are lucky to have the museum in our backyard, over 86% of their visitors come from outside of Ashland."
